Catching Up

January, February and March sped right by us. And here's why:

Grace's 8th birthday. She got to have a big party with friends this year. She chose to invite three friends (one couldn't make it) for sledding, hot chocolate with a dollop of ice cream and Krispie Kreme donuts, pizza, a movie and a slumber party! Then she got to party on with family the next day which was her actual birthday. She chose brownies to celebrate with that night. Then the very next day, we celebrated with my side of the family at Sunday dinner. It was a whole weekend of birthday fun!

What Grace woke up to on her birthday morning. Darrel and I secretly stuffed this Minnie Mouse into one of our carry-ons to take home from Disneyworld. I have finally learned to give our kids their present from Darrel and I at breakfast rather than having them wait all day until it's time for their family party after dinner. Why I didn't think to do that sooner, I don't know, I'm just glad I figured it out before they were all grown up!

Grace's baptism. Only two weeks after her birthday was her baptism day. Grace had been nervous for years worrying about if she'd be able to go under the water. Darrel practiced with her in swimming pools whenever we got the chance. When the day came she stepped bravely into the font and didn't have any trouble at all. Darrel and I were so proud of her. We had hoped to have Tia (birth mom) and Janet (birth grandma) there for the baptism and to stay with us overnight, but the night before they were to fly out of Maryland, all flights were canceled due to a huge blizzard on the east coast. They were so sad to miss it and Grace and I had a little cry together when I told her about it. After a while, Grace dried her tears and said, "Well, I'm glad at least you'll be there." We had lots of family crowd into the house after the baptism for a yummy dinner of soup, rolls, a fruit flower bouquet and, of course, more Krispie Kremes (the glazed are Grace's favorite).

Spring Break. This brought a fun ski day at Brighton, a trip to the bowling alley, a day at the zoo, and Easter. It was so nice to have time to spend just having fun with the kids.

You'll have to check out Justin's technique in the video clip below.

Spencer found a few fun jumps where he could catch some air.  Here he is covering up the "no".
