'Twas the Night Before Christmas

This year I decided to do something a little different and exciting on Christmas Eve day. I took Spencer and Grace skiing at Brighton! Darrel volunteered to stay home with Justin and the dog. Yes, even with his dislike of dogs in general, Darrel would rather stay home with one than spend a day on the slopes. To each his own, I guess. But why would you want to miss out on this?

Triumphant at the top of the Majestic lift! The day was beautiful and sunny and no too cold and the kids were AWESOME! Grace has always been more cautious, but this time she was willing to try out the regular hill instead of sticking exclusively to the bunny hill. It was so much fun to spend the day with them and see them having a great time and getting more and more confident with each run.

I thought they'd get enough skiing long before the day was through, but we ended up staying the whole day! They were exhausted by the time we left and both had a nap in the car on the way home. (Um, don't ask who took the pictures...I promise whoever it was had their eyes glued to the road and one hand firmly gripping the wheel.)

I'm thinking this needs to be a tradition. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a ski day!

Here's some video. Sorry about the one that's sideways. I forget I can't turn a video camera like I can a regular camera.

  2. I think I relate with Darrel. Much more fun to stay home with the Dog and keep warm. ;)

Glad you had a fun time! Love the photos and video!

  3. That looks terrifying and I would have chosen to stay home too. I have never been skiing and probably never will. How fun for you and the kids though! I think that's a great tradition!
