High School Friends

I had some great friends in high school. And the best part? They're still my friends! We don't get together often, but we keep in touch in different ways. Here is a lovely picture for which they will all thank me, I'm sure.
Left to Right: Joy, Me (just in case you can't tell--if I've changed that much, please keep it to yourself), Michelle, Alisa. We went on a Caribbean cruise together after graduation. It was an awesome way to celebrate!

Michelle lives in Pennsylvania and we've emailed back and forth for years. We used to tell people we were cousins and some people still think we are to this day. She has great fashion sense and does me the huge favor of sending me her clothes whenever she cleans out her closet! It's like Christmas knowing there's a box on its way! I never get more compliments than when I'm wearing something she's sent me. In many past posts on this blog, I'm wearing something of hers, but here are some from the latest shipment. (Not the best pictures, but I had to have Justin take the photos since he was the only one around when I thought of it.)

My friend Alisa lives here in Utah and we try to get together with our kiddos at least once during the year. We also exchange Christmas treats, and I'm pretty sure I get the better end of that deal. She and her family have a tradition of making to-die-for homemade chocolates and she brings me a whole box that I hide and eat all by myself. She does get my famous caramel popcorn, but those chocolates...well, my mouth waters just thinking of them!

Alisa was also so kind to bring dinner to my family once when we were having a hard time after an adoption fell through. She brought a fun, festive taco soup in a pumpkin, a spider cake and little bugs. No, not your average casserole. She is amazingly creative and crafty like that!
Joy lives in Texas. People were always getting us mixed up in school. If they didn't think we were the same person, they usually thought we were twins or at least sisters. Joy usually makes time to stop in for a visit when she's up visiting her family here in Utah and we like to chat on the phone and catch up during the year. I especially appreciated her understanding ear when our adoption fell through because she has experienced losing a baby.

So, here's to you, ladies! Thanks for being great friends through the years! I'm thinking a 20 year reunion cruise is in order in 2012? Yes, it's really been that long. Yikes!

  3. The only reason I don't have the bangs, Natalie, is that mine were too heavy and stubborn so I couldn't get the right height on them. They'd always end up falling down on my forehead and looking stupid no matter how much hairspray I used, so I was forced to give up on that dream :)
