Spencer's Cub Scout group held a much anticipated Pinewood Derby on Tuesday. Spencer and Darrel spent two weeks designing, engineering and painting the perfect car. To Darrel's credit, Spencer really did do most of the work with just a few tips here and there from Dad. And here it is--Arrow, the Second Place Winner! (Never mind that the boy who won first place spent a day on his car, with no expert help from his dad, and a dollar's worth of quarters duct taped to the hood at the last minute for weight. There's only so much you can do with a block of wood and those little plastic wheels, folks!) My boys were pretty excited about the results and we were proud of Spencer's hard work. Darrel is currently the Cub Master in our ward and enjoyed emceeing the event. It was a fun night! Hooray for Spencer!
yay spencer. that might be the first time i've seen him really *smiling* in a picture. he looks really happy. are you being facetious when you said darrel enjoyed emceeing? doesn't sound like his cup of tea. good job, though. darn those quarters!

ReplyDeleteChris just bought an electronic track to use for our ward and then to rent out to groups. HE is going to put his name at the scout office so groups can pay him to come do the derby for them.
ReplyDeleteBrooke-Perhaps "Darrel mostly didn't mind emceeing the race since it's his calling" is more accurate. Not, not his cup of tea.
