Once a year we manage to make it to Lagoon. It's only 10 minutes away, but it's quite the outing (and expensive!), so we usually just do it once a summer. Thank goodness for Stake Lagoon Day when we get a nice discount. The kids look forward to it all year.
It rained off and on all day, and though we were prepared with rain ponchos we were all soaked by the end of the day. It wasn't too cold, though, so it was actually better than getting baked in the hot sun and made for short lines.
We ran into my sister-in-law there with three of her kids. They were taking advantage of the discount, too, so we hit a few rides with them. (That's Ella with Spencer on the Jumping Dragon ride and Seth with Justin shooting bad guys in the airplane.)
Spencer has gotten brave enough to ride on the bigger rides with Darrel (hence the lack of photos of the big boys). Grace and Justin and I like Kiddie Land. Justin is actually pretty daring for a 3-year-old and likes all of the kiddie rides. His favorite is the Lady Bug Bop which lifts you way up into the air (O.K., maybe it's not that high, but for someone like me that doesn't love heights, it's quite high enough, thanks) and then drops you in sudden little bursts as it turns around. Then up you go again...then down. It's what I imagine an elevator on the fritz would be like. Grace's all-time favorite ride is the carousel. Spencer likes The Bat, which I also like. It's the one roller-coaster type ride I go on besides the old rickety white one.
Darrel was disappointed that he didn't get to go on Wicked (a horrible straight up at 60 miles and hour, then straight down, then upside down type of ride). I had to get back home for Enrichment night leaving him there with the kids. They managed to have more fun despite my early departure and came home wet, tired, and happy.

I love that picture of your girl in the green swing ride. Classic.
ReplyDeleteI miss all those kiddie rides. Justin is quite brave! The look on all the kids faces tells it all.
